The CSPCA has internships available for college students or adults interested in expanding their skill set in a number of different areas of interest. All internships are unpaid unless noted.
“A lot of people I have talked to think they could never volunteer at the shelter because it is sad or they would take every animal home. I feel it might seem sad, but the more people volunteer is a lot of hard work. Every time I volunteer I feel happy on the inside knowing I have made a difference. “
The marketing and events intern will be responsible for assisting in various aspects of marketing at the CSPCA including but not limited to designing, creating and distributing print and web materials to promote adoptable animals, shelter services, events and programs. The intern will also be responsible for assisting in various stages of event planning and administration. The internship program is designed to provide opportunities for students to learn about all phases of marketing an agency’s mission, programs and services as well as event planning including developing, organizing, promoting, executing, and finalizing events such as the CSPCA’s Annual Fur Ball, Dog Walk, and Woofstock.
The administrative intern will learn the many facets of administrative work behind the scenes at the shelter. The intern will learn the supportive role that an administrative person plays in day to day operations including thanking those who have donated to the shelter. Interns will learn how to use various softwares and computer programs to accomplish tasks.
The outreach and education intern will learn the details of the CSPCA’s mission, programs and services so that they will be able to properly educate the public about the various aspects of our shelter at a number of community events and through shelter publications. The intern will learn the ins and outs of professional animal welfare and the proper care of animals so they will be able to educate the community about various animal care and welfare issues through presentations, workshops, and outreach events geared toward people of all ages.
